Scenic Adair County: Now the day is over in Gradyville, KY

2006-08-16 - From Old Gradyville Road - Photo CM Staff. Night is drawing nigh, in the words of Sabine Baring-Gould hymn. But before repose, congregants of the Gradyville Baptist Church were gathering for a meeting. This most peaceful scene across the cornfield looking west to the Bethel residence in the background was taken Tuesday evening, August 15, 2006, from Old Gradyville Road, the Main Street of Downtown Gradyville. The vantage point is between the old Woodson Nell place and the current Bob Sneed home. Little here would remind anyone who didn't already know that the gentle valley was the scene of the worst natural disaster in Adair County history, the Gradyville Flood of 1907.
