Green River Animal Shelter VIP open house and ribbon cutting 2006-07-18 - Columbia, KY - Photo CM staff. Officials of the Fiscal Courts of Adair, Russell and Metcalfe Counties, the Green River Animal Shelter employees and board, and members of the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce were on hand for a special VIP tour of the shelter. The event took place Sunday, July 16, 2006. The shelter is located at 455 Jim Blair Road just south of the Adair County Youth Development Center. Jim Blair, ninth over from left in khaki knee britches and long sleeve shirt, donated the the land for the shelter. A bequest from the Meg Tooley made the shelter building possible. Attendees were impressed with the cleanliness and quiet of the facility under the direction of Jeff Thomas.
