Chimney is only thing left of 1889 Fairgrounds ST home

2006-07-05 - Fairgrounds ST, Columbia, KY - Photo Ed Waggener. FIRE TAKES OUT HOUSE ON FAIRGROUNDS STREET. A 30 ft. chimney is all that's left of the house at 111 Fairgrounds Street after a July 4th fire reduced the structure to a pile of rubble. Firemen were able to keep the blaze from spreading next door to Hancock Furniture Shop, the blue metal building in the right side of the photo. The building in the center of the picture of Steve McKinney's NAPA Auto Parts and the red building to the left is Burton's on the corner where Fairground Street meets Campbellsville Street.
