Marine Corporal Derek Cundiff
is serving in Iraq this July 4, 2006

Lance Corporal Derek A. Cundiff, Gradyville, KY, is serving in Iraq this July 4th.

LCPL Cundiff is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Cundiff of Gradyville.

He is a 2003 graduate of Adair County High School, and attended Lindsey Wilson College on an academic scholarship, as class valedictorian, prior to joining the Marines.

He graduate from Parris Island on April 22, 2005 and then went on to Camp Geiger, NC, for combat training. Following that, he completed Military Police training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.

He is currently deployed to Iraq with his Lexington, KY, reserve unit. He has served there since March of 2006.

His civilian ambition, his parents say, is to go into law enforcement when he returns to Adair County.
