10th Annual Antique Tractor Show: Depression era model

2006-06-17 - Clay Ridge, KY - Photo CM staff. A LARGE and GROWING CROWD was on the grounds of Garrison Construction Company before the official opening time this morning at 10am CT, Saturday June 17, 2006, for the 10th Annual Russell Creek Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Show. The early crowd included former Columbia Daily Statesman editor Gordon Crump, right, and Calvin Creason. The tractor is a restored 1937 John Deere, which, Mr. Crump explained, was built in the latter days of the Great Depression. The tractor is owned by Larry Shirley, Glasgow, KY, and was restored by Jackie Wheeler, also of Glasgow. Mr. Crump now lives at Clay Ridge, KY, on Cedar Grove RD. Mr. Creason drove in from Summersville in Green County. The free show will continue on this perfect almost summer day. There is food on the grounds, contests starting at 1:00pm, and a grand parade of tractors around the lake will be this afternoon. Clay Ridge is seven miles north of Columbia, 10 miles south of Greensburg, KY.
