The Whole Town: 4th Annual Gradyville Get-Together December 11, 2005

2005-12-12 - Gradyville, Adair CO, KY - Photo Ed Waggener. MAKING HISTORY: Ever since hearing Garrison Keillor tell about the whole town of Lake Woebegon being in the Human Flag in front of the Central Building, we've (Linda and I) have wanted to take a picture of a whole town. Fortunately, everybody at the 4th Annual Gradyville Get-Together December 11, 2005 agreed to leave the warm D&F Grocery and the hot coffee and desserts, to brave the cold and make history. Thanks to Frances Salyers co-proprietor of D&F Grocery, we have names to go with the faces above. From left Matt Sparrow holding Harmony Sparrow; behind them, Ann Melton; Nikki Sparrow, Kim Salyers (slightly behind), Frances Salyers (red scarf); staying on front row only; Jessica Hatfield (white jacket, blond hair), Hope Salyers (navy blue jacket), Vicky Byrd (red jacket), Joyce Reliford (blue jacket, red blouse), Mrs. Sneed (white coat), with Bobby Sneed behind), Pete Reliford (slightly behind Bobby Sneed); Mildred Sneed (front row, blue jacket and slacks, white shoes); Daryl "Flintstone" Sneed, to right and slightly behind Mildred Sneed; J.M. Shelley, Jimmy Reliford, Dana Walker (Santa hat) with Pat Reliford barely seen behind; small Makayla Walker, Rita Moss, Bob Moss, Dr. Hugh Smith (from far off Font Hill by way of Russell Springs), Kenneth Scott (visiting current Mayor of Bliss, soon to abdicate in favor of daughter, Cheryl); and Gradyville Mayor Hootie Gist. On back row from left eave of building Jerome Salyers, Chris Janes and baby son, Mrs. Chris Janes holding son; and Daril Salyers, co-proprietor of D&F Grocery. The picture was taken with the new Gradyville Voting House/Santa's Headquarters in the background. E-mail: ed@epwbooks or call 270-384-0612 to discuss arranging other "The Whole Town" photos in Adair County. Metropolitan Columbia might present a problem, but we'll try.
