Temporary courthouse doors replace ones smashed by angry pickup truck driver

2005-08-22 - Columbia, KY - Photo Linda Waggener. TEMPORARY DOORS HAD TO BE CREATED MONDAY where a man had taken out his anger on the courthouse, in pure Ernest T. Bass style, and driven his pickup truck through them Saturday night. People couldn't figure it out when they heard about it -- how did he live through it? How did he drive over the steps? On the Greensburg Street side of the courthouse, the ramp for the disabled made a smooth entrance for the pickup. We have yet to discover what the truck looks like but the driver was sound enough to be taken to jail by Columbia Police. Working on the temporary doors were carpenters Sonny Vance and his son Bryan in the doorway at left, and Jeff Norris and David Coppage on clean-up. Click 'read more' for the full police report.
