2004-09-06 - Columbia, KY - Photo Ed Waggener. CARL HUTCHISON and JOE MOORE had comfortable vantage points to take in the crowd at the Buy, Swap, Sell Day at the Adair County Fair Grounds midway, Labor Day, 2004. The two have been the Keepers of the Adair County Courthouse Clock for many years. Mr. Moore says that at his own advanced age, he is afraid of the heights and advises Mr. Hutchison from the ground. The courthouse clock is running betterthan ever, Mr. Hutchison says. All four faces keep near perfect time. It is one of the few public mechanical clocks in the country which has been so well maintained. Hutchison says that a local antiquesauthority, Bill Anderson, has estimated the clock's value at well over $50,000.
