Seeking family information



2004-07-04 - Gradyville, KY - Photo (courtesy of Ron DeVore). DEVORE FAMILY overlooking Big Creek remembering the Gradyville Flood of 1907. This photo was taken in the summer of 1943 not far from the Baptist church on Big Creek in Gradyville. The occasion was a family gathering to look over the area that had been flooded. From left are: Florence Denny from Louisville, (wife of our cousin Joe Willie Denny), Stella Coomer, Hardyville, Ky. (my aunt), Robert Denny, Jeffersonville, Ind. (a second cousin). Genie Coomer, Wisdom, Ky. (My grandmother who was re-married to Wiley Coomer, Wiley Coomer (My step-grandfather), Francis Coomer, Hardyville, Ky. (First cousin), Raymond DeVore, Wisdom Ky. (my Father), myself at age 10, Ruby Denny DeVore (My mother), Rudolph Denny Louisville (another cousin), Rina Denny, Jeffersonville, In. (my great aunt) and Randal Denny (another cousin). Not in the photo was Joseph William Denny better known as Joe Willie who was a double cousin to my mother and figures prominently in my grandmothers version of events on that fateful Friday night in June of 1907.
