Travel: Secret Beach

2023-10-28 - Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor, Oregon - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.
Robert writes, "This elusive beach resides in the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor. It is approachable only at low tide. It is somewhat hard to find since it's officially not on any map. A little digging around on the internet one can get in the 'ballpark' of where it's at. There are numerous pull offs on the Boardman Corridor, and we missed the Secret Beach...by over shooting it, so we had to backtrack.

Little did we know there were two trails at the unmarked parking lot, and the first one we attempted we had to bail on... it was too steep, wet, and slippery, with tree roots everywhere. But as we were about to get back into the car we spotted the other (correct) trail. It was much easier, and very doable. We were warned by other hikers that at the very end there's a bit of a steep but short scramble that drops onto the ocean floor; but it was worth it! Only thing better would have been able to visit this spot at sunset."
