Vonnie Kolbenschlag writes, "Regarding the 'Bakery' building, Mary Evelyn Walker told me that her father was a baker in that building and after school, kids would run to the bakery for fresh made snacks of bread - that were sooo good. Who ever bricked that building, did a good job, I think." She also noted that since Mary Evelyn was a Barnes, maybe Charles and Barbara can enlighten us about the builder. Stanley Curry receives Distinguished Alumnus Award 2022-09-27 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy Lindsey Wilson College. Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient Stanley Curry '84 of Campbellsville, Kentucky, waves to the crowd from the 20-yard line on Saturday during LWC's 91st Homecoming. Curry opened his first pre-owned car dealership, AutoSmart, more than 35 years ago. The company has grown to include locations in Campbellsville and Leitchfield, Kentucky. Curry serves on the board of SportsReach, a ministry outreach team that uses sports to deliver the gospel to young athletes. SportsReach has partnered with LWC to coordinate a shoe drive that annually collects 200-300 pairs of shoes to be distributed all over the world. LWC First Lady Elise Luckey made her first appearance on the LWC stage in the long-awaited production of Love Letters by A.R. Gurney. The two-person play, also starring Associate Professor of Theatre Robert Brock, was postponed during the pandemic. The one-night-only, Homecoming performance covers a nearly 50-year span in the lives of two friends who correspond by letter. Brock first performed the play with American actress Annie Potts in 2002. The Lindsey Wilson Singers donned bowties to celebrate Honorary Alumnus Award recipient Duane Bonifer. Bonifer, who is known for the preferred neck wear, worked for LWC from 1991 to 2016. He is credited for developing the College's first-ever website, the current LWC logo and adapting the tagline "Every Student, Every Day" from the College mission statement. Directed by LWC Associate Professor of Music Gerald Chafin, current and former members of the LWC Singers performed the South African praise song "Gabi, Gabi," a favorite of Bonifer's. Betty Jean Moseley of Bowling Green, Kentucky, accepts the Honorary Alumna Award on Saturday at the 91st LWC National Alumni Association Awards Celebration Luncheon. Moseley and her late husband, Doug, have been longtime contributors to the Lindsey Wilson endowment and began the Doug and Betty Jean Endowed Scholarship which has grown to more than $264,000. In April, Betty Jean gave a substantial gift to name the Doug and Betty Jean Moseley Auditorium in the Hodge Center for Discipleship.
