Roberts honored at CKTS awards ceremony

Jamison Roberts from Columbia was the season champion in the CKTS men's C division single's tennis tournaments held this summer. The awards ceremony was held at Buchanan Park Indoor tennis complex in Bowling Green this past Sunday. It's an 8 tournament game competition held over 4 months and played every other weekend in area towns. He also won an award for playing at all 8 tournaments.

Accident blocks Fairground Street

Fairground Street in Columbia was blocked early Tuesday afternoon due to an accident that knocked over a power pole and line by Head Start. Traffic was being rerouted when this photo was taken. We'll share the police report as soon as it comes in.

Creekside Barn ribbon cutting ceremony in Gradyville

The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Friday, November 11, 2022 for new business member Creekside Barn on Gradyville Club Road. Present were: Chantal Petrey, Columbia Mayor Hoots holding Jakky, Doris Carter, Lexie, Ashley, Brieanna, Joshua, Oryan and Dakota Oakes, Kaice Sigurbjurtsson, Caley Watkins, J'Aqui Montgomery, Tiffany and James Petrey, and Ellen Zornes.

Sundog came before weather changes

Sundog viewed over Laker Laundry in Russell Springs before the recent weather change. Old timers used to say Sundogs meant we'd have some significant weather coming in. I'd say drops in temperatures from 70s to 20s pretty much demonstrates the truth in that saying. - LW

New bridge span

Adair County Fiscal Court was proud to open the new bridge today. Examination of the previous Old Glensfork Road bridge had shown significant deterioration in the footings and channel support brackets - a complete new bridge was recommended as the solution. Replacement of it was possible only because Kentucky had what they call The 80/20 Bridge Fund so that Kentucky Transportation would fund 80% of the project and the county would be responsible for just 20%.

Bridge opening celebrated in Glensfork

The Old Glensfork Road Bridge opening was celebrated Monday, November 14, 2022 by this group including, from left: Gregory Eastham, Engineer, Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan, District Three Magistrate Sammy Baker, and County Road Foreman Barry Hamlett. Judge Cowan said, "Even though we have been a year and a half working on the project, actual road closure time from opening bids to opening the road today has been less than two months. Thank you goes out to Magistrate Sammy Baker and the entire Fiscal Court for seeing this project through."

OCC 2022: Bloomington Chapel Ladies Ministry
