March 6 proclaimed Black Balloon Day in Columbia

Mayor Pamela Hoots was joined by Maretta Garner, counselor for Spero Health, as she signed a proclamation declaring March 6 as Black Balloon Day in Columbia. The day is set aside every March 6 for families, friends, and loved ones to celebrate the lives of memories of those lost to overdose.

Ed Waggener headed to the Cafe on Campbellsville Street in the 70s and wrote, "It’s a good morning for being outside washing windows. Trilby Tupman of Tutt Street knows of only one other person with her name. The heroine of a novel named "Trilby" was put into a trance by a hypnotist musician and became famous as a singer. Asked if she sings, she replied, 'We sing at Angels.' "
