Travel: Hot Springs National Park
2023-05-04 - Hot Springs, Arkansas - Photo by Graham Waggener. In the early 1800's, a bustling town grew up around the hot springs of the Washita in Arkansas to provide services for health seekers. The resultant bathing industry led to Hot Springs becoming known as the "American Spa."
Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs National Park consists of eight bathhouse buildings that were constructed between the years of 1892 and 1923, during the height of the bathing industry. The Ozark bathhouse was completed in the summer of 1922.
Today, the Ozark houses the Hot Springs National Park Cultural Center. The Center features gallery spaces for displaying artwork from the park's Artist-in-Residence Program and other temporary exhibitions. Read more at www.nps.gov.
