Travel: Fort Worth Historic Distrct

In the late 1800s, Fort Worth was a vital stop on the Chisholm Trail. In 1976, the North Fort Worth Historical Society was founded to preserve Fort Worth's livestock heritage. Today, the Fort Worth National Historic District showcases daily cattle drives, artisan bootmakers and immersive Western experiences, centered around the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Veterans George Kenneth Staton and Roger E. Burton

Pack of dogs dumped, killing chickens

Four of the pack of twelve dogs dumped at the scenic Sam Coffey Hole where Big Clifty Creek feeds into Russell Creek in Adair County. They have killed animals and one bit the farm owner trying to trap it.

A photo from Robert's recent visit to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. Robert writes, "Meet Orville, the turkey. His name was told to me by some children that were familiar with him. I figured in a matter of time, by just following him around, some kind of scene would play out...here (I'll assume) a grandfather lifts his grandson up to peer over the fence to get a better view of Orville."

Sculpture in the Shell Grotto

A sculpture on display in the Shell Grotto on the grounds of the Headley-Whitney Museum of Art in Lexington. The museum web site says, "From the coral slabs of the floor mined in the Florida Keys to the four mosaics on the ceiling created by artist and friend Carl Malouf, Headley created an exotic sea environment full of intriguing furnishings and fanciful objects decorated and constructed with shells."

More than 150 works by Cincinnati-based American Modernist artist Charley Harper are on display, interspersed with a curated selection of Mid-Century Modern Furniture, in the Spring Exhibit at the Headley-Whitney Museum of Art in Lexington. The exhibit runs through July 27, 2025.
