Kentucky Color: Owl pellet found at HGR

Owls swallow their prey whole. An owl pellet contains undigested hair and bones, which owls regurgitate. Billy Joe found this one at Homeplace on Green River, and broke it apart before photographing so that the bones could be seen. Click 'read more' for an informative Q&A.

At inaugural Spirit of Columbia awards event

The inaugural Spirit of Columbia awards were presented to first responders Friday. It was a collaboration between TJ Health Columbia and the City of Columbia. From left are: Mayor Pam Hoots, Officer Megan Arnold, Louisville Metro Police; (retired) Sheriff Josh Brockman, Elizabeth True-Mitcham, formerly with Breeding Fire Department (now with Columbia-Adair County Fire Department, Charles Esch, Columbia-Adair County Fire Department, Tommy Kemp with Pyles Demolition and Recycling, Colonel Jeremy McQueary, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Commissioner Rich Storm, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Brandon Dickey, Chief Quality Officer and Chief of Hospital Operations at TJHC.

American Flag flying over First Responders

Friday was a day for honoring First Responders in Columbia. The ACVFD brought the giant American Flag to fly over the event at the Pavilion in the old fairgrounds park.
