It's not been a very good year to harvest, at least not in my neck of the woods." Marie at first thought it to be a baby rat snake, because "They are born late August looking at the pupil is round and the markings." She says, "After referring to Snakesnap. The experts have confirmed that this is a black racer. Very beneficial and harmless but I did notice it was kind of aggressive, which I don't usually see in a small rat snake. Now I know why.
