Christmas Village of Billy Pickett opens Dec 19

Once again Billy Pickett is bringing Christmas on Pickett Street to the people of Columbia and Adair County. For years, Billy has created a winter wonderland--trains, carnival, snow scenes--at his Pickett Street home. He has outdone himself with the new display for 2023! Admittance is free at his location: 708 Pickett Street, Columbia, KY, just off Greensburg Street.

Pam sent this picture at sundown Friday. She writes, "Just shot this sunset here in Columbia and was just blown away by the way these plane contrails resembled thin tornadoes! Just so cool to watch this happen tonight... the sky has been extremely photogenic lately!"

The scenic Adair County community of Egypt was where Columbia Police Department Sgt. Evan Burton captured this picture. He writes, "I just took this picture on Highway 551 in the Egypt community. How peaceful!"

John Field House sale closed Thursday

Columbia's historic John Field (Mark Twain) House found its new owner family Thursday, December 14, 2023. At the closing were, from left, T.E.C.E. Title Services owner Tia White, Realtor Tom Waggener, new owners Kevin and Emily Williams, and T.E.C.E assistant Connie DeVore. Plans are for the long restoration project, saving the 200+ year old home, to begin soon. The home was built in 1812 and is one of only a hand-full of buildings from that era left standing in Adair county.

Stacey Burton Biggs is new Chamber Board member

Adair County native Stacey Biggs, T.J. Regional Health Executive Vice President, was introduced as a new Board member of the Columbia Adair Chamber of Commerce Tuesday. She was accompanied by Brandon Dickey, RN, Chief Quality Officer, T.J. Regional Health. She gave him credit for much of the growth happening at TJ Health Columbia and plants to announce some of the changes at the March Chamber meeting.
