Better Building Markers at Lindsey Wilson College one year ago

2010-11-18 - Photo by Ed Waggener. Lindsey Wilson College's L.R. McDonald Administration Building, 210 Lindsey Wilson ST, Columbia, KY
It was one year ago Thursday, November 19, 2009 when workmen Bart Pelston, atop the ladder, and co-workers, from left, Garry Coomer, Randy Smith, and Deamon Spencer of the Lindsey Wilson College Physical Plant and Maintenance Department began affixing street numbers to buildings on campus. It was a more than symbolic testament to the school's motto, "Every Student, Every Day," adding a measure of safety for students and, above all, courtesy, for visitors new to the campus. Street level signage improvements are ongoing at the institution. Columbia area schools, including Adair County High School's District campus, Lindsey Wilson College, and Campbellsville University all now have all venues noted with Street Numbers and Addresses. It's a far cry from State Schools, such as Somerset Community College, where computer users are supposed to use quaint, The World Is Supported by a Turtle Drawings of Virtual Maps, at least several clicks deep on the school's archaic (in this respect), time-wasting websites to find venues. Truck drivers use modern technology. Wonder why the State institutions of higher education fight it? -ED WAGGENER
