Adair County vs. Counties with smoking laws
2012-06-18 - Somerset, KY - Photo from LCDHD. This chart shows what happens to overall air quality in hospitality venues before and after smoking bans are passed. Adair County, at far left, still without a ban now has air quality approximately five times worse than Georgetown and Lexington, both of which enacted smoking bans - and almost three times worse than the outdoor standard. Lexington, post smoking ban law, has air quality at least 10 times better than pre-law.

2012-06-18 - Columbia, KY - Photo Submitted by Madge Melton. Not much-modest Grandmother Madge Melton found this treasured Old Family Photo, above in a museum matte frame, of the baby of the bunch, Katie Melton, who is now the rising star of the family, and, yesterday, 21 years old. Madge melts reminiscing, and sends this message to Katie, "You'll always be remembered as the little dimple faced girl in this picture!" Katie is the daughter of Gary and Ann Melton of Columbia, KY.

Scenic Jamestown, KY: Duck Alley beauty
2012-06-18 - Duck Alley, Jamestown, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Small wonder that Jamestown, KY has won national acclaim as the No. 1 Community in which to raise a family. As much attention has been paid to details off the gorgeous public square as on it, as much so as have the communities of Greensburg and Springfield in other parts of our region. This scene is on Duck Alley, where the back of a renovated downtown office building is cooled with trees and vines, and the remains of a block wall are artistically trimmed with disciplined trumpet vine to enhance another hint of history.
