Excellence in Teaching Award winners honored again

Jane Reed, left and Alice Curry, center were honored again last night for being the recipients, of 2012 Excellence in Teaching awards, a prestigious distinction bestowed each year by the School of Education at Campbellsville University. The teachers were recognized at ceremonies there on Saturday, May 12, 2012. (See full story, with photos, of CU event: 167 receive 2012 CU Excellence in Teaching Awards today). Teacher Robyn Mantooth, the third recipient, was not present. For Superintendent Darrell Treece, right it was a particularly memorable moment: It was his last such presentation as Superintendent of Adair County Schools. June 30, 2012 will be his last day as Superintendent.

Future Problem Solvers honored by School Board

The Adair County High School Future Problem Solvers were honored for their 6th Top Ten International showing at the regular June 21, 2012 meeting of the Adair County School Board. From left are Roslyn Wilson, Sarah McQuaide, Kyle Castaneda, FPS Coach Brett Reliford, Leeann Blackwelder, Adair County Superintendent Darrell Treece, Rebecca Montgomery, and Amber Turner. Emmalee Baker was recognized but was not in attendance. Mr. Treece reminded the audience that the group placed 9th in the international competition at Bloomington, IN this year, and that Rebecca Montgomery placed first in the world. Adult Learning Center being moved to Campbellsville Road

The Adult Learning Center is being moved from the now closed location at 403 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY, left photo to the Farm Service Center, 969 Campbellsville Road. right and will be in the Office of Employment and Training suite. The aim, Sandy Claunch of Somerset Community College said, is to offer a one stop job shop. Somerset Community College is now the fiscal agent for the center, a role formerly played by the Adair County School Board. The Adult Learning Center will be open in its new location July 2.
