State of Renovation: Red Brick Recording Studio - July 3, 2012

2012-07-03 - 200 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo Columbia, KY.
Renovation work on the old Firestone Building is progressing at an incredible pace. Side windows are now bricked in, and new windows for the upper floors should go in any time. Today, work taking the "modern" retailing window bays out, in preparation for a flush front, actually with more of a retro look. Standing at left, foreground, is Red Nixon, in charge of the renovation for owner Mike Harris, and Ben Arnold, quite possibly the biggest major investor in Public Square Property in the history of Adair County and the next previous owner of the building. An irony - some two decades ago Mr. Arnold had the same vision for the corner - a recording studio - with the same partner in mind as Mr. Harris is now working with - Danny Bailey. And, possibly more than anyone in Columbia, he's elated that that dream is being carried out, though he's no longer directly involved. While the work on the Red Brick Recording Studio is going well, Mr. Nixon won't yet venture a target date for its completion.
