Kentucky Color: Eye of Debby
2012-07-06 - Jacksonville, Florida - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge. Eye of Debby: Our first tropical storm is what we surely hope will be our last one. After watching it rain for four days and listening to a 35 mph wind howl for half the night and almost all day, we could not imagine the horror of being in a full-fledged hurricane. - - Billy Joe Fudge

Sweet summer rain, briefly July 5, 2012
2012-07-05 - 100 Block, Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. It may not last long enough to count, but it's been welcome. These mercy drops were enough to settle the dust and lower the temperature to below 80 degrees, and were even enough to obscure the time on the clock at Robert's Bank. The picture was taken at about 4:15pmCT, Thursday, July 5, 2012.

Mary's House drive has strong start - still a long way to go
2012-07-05 - Cane Valley, Adair Co., KY - Photo house by Benton Fudge; thermometer by Fran Neat. Benton Fudge of South Central Designs provided this drawing of Mary's House, which is being built for Mary McGuffin and her seven children who lost their home and most of their possessions in a Keltnertown fire. When the thermometer is full - all red - the goal of $40,000 will have been reached. The target date is by August 1, 2012. That means a little over $1,000, on average, per day, will have to be raised. For information on helping the cause, click ReadMore.

July 4th Fireworks at the Fair: Thirst quenchers at Band Booths
2012-07-04 - 413 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. Fireworks watchers can expect the dry warm air to create a thirst: The Adair Band can help. Cool Band Mom Lachana Scholl was getting a bag of ice ready for the parched crowds expected tonight. The band will have water, iced drinks and Snow Cones and hot Juicy Grilled Hamburgers were already coming off the grill for the Band Food Booths at the track crossing at the Adair County Fairgrounds at the same time. The Band Boosters are now pros at providing fair food. Short lines were already forming at a little past six this evening as early bird fireworks fans were joining the crowd already in place for the Family Fun Games, underway. Besides the several food stands the band has, local BBQ man Rerun Cornelison will be preparing food at the show as well. The low humidity is making the night air more comfortable than in almost all prior years.
