Russell County Babe Ruth All Stars advance to State

The Russell County All Star Babe Ruth team made up of boys from Adair, Russell, Marion and Wayne Counties in Kentucky won the District 5 championship on Saturday, July 7, KY in Somerset, KY. The team will advance to the State Tournament in Lexington, KY on Thursday, July 12, at Veterans Park at 7:30pmCT. Team members are, front row from left - Peyton Back, Mason Pyles, Ben McFall, Grant Best, Colton Back and Zach Hutchison. Back row, Coach Pat Back, Ethan Selby, Cody McElroy, Taylor Grider, Robby Spalding, Tray Blevins, Daniel Franklin, Kendrick Wilson and Coach Dean McElroy. - Sandy Pyles

Fabulous street art abounds in Burkesville, KY.
This painting in the window of Keith's Barber Shop depicts a scene from yesterday captioned, "Abner Cary shaving Mr. Coleman in the Parkway Building." It is signed "C. Cash-P. Ritter," for the artist due - Charlotte Cash and Patricia Ritter - responsible for so much of the art which distingushes the Cumberland County county seat as a visual arts destination city.

now the Harris /Red Brick Recording Studio at 200 Public Square gives a greater indication of what the building will look like when completed at the end of the construction day Monday, July 9, 2010. Glenn "Red" Nixon is the general contractor on the job.

Mary's House: $7,065 of the Way, July 9, 2012

Dear Friends: Cane Valley Christian Church, along with a group of concerned citizens, is raising money to build a new house for Mary McGuffin, a single, working mother with seven children, whose house recently burned. All donations will be escrowed until 100% of the funds are raised. Land and labor have already been donated. Checks are to be made to Cane Valley Christian Church Benevolence Fund with a memo of "Mary's House." Please make all donations by August 1 so that construction can begin. Happiness is a warm hound dogger

Donovan Baker is sleeping like a baby. So is his buddy, Copper, the Hound Dogger / a blood hound. Donovan adopted Hound Dogger at the animal shelter in Glasgow. Hound Dogger does what a blood hound is supposed to do. She "Hound Dogs." Donavan watches her on the trail and says, "Look, Daddy, she's hound dogging." Donavan has a cat name Gizzard, a somewhat rotund yellow tabby, who usually stands in higher stead. Gizz does not take his toys, as Copper is wont to do.
