Smouldering ruins, Biggerstaff body shop

Total loss
Danny Biggerstaff's body shop building was a total loss. Also destroyed in the fire was a 2005 Dodge Truck, 2011 Jeep Wrangler, 1970 Chevelle, and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Adair County Fireman battled the fire, which started just before midnight, Tuesday, July 10, 2012, but in the end, everything was a total loss.

Storm Clouds or Rays of Hope?

The Historic Courthouse glistened in the evening sun before the regular meeting of Adair Fiscal Court, last night, but clouds added a foreboding, reflecting the worsening financial situation the hospital finds itself following a downward spiral of hospital utilization in the past 12 months under the management of Spectrum HealthCare Partners, overseen by the Adair County Hospital District Board. The court voted, unanimously, to seek Attorney General's opinions on the legal issues surrounding a proposed hospital tax which would survive the sale of the hospital to a For Profit group from Nashville which will leave a "shortfall" for the Hospital District.

Adair Fiscal Court recognizes Locks of Love donors

It was a strictly First District affair and a happy one, as Magistrate Harold Burton (1) presented certificates honoring three Locks of Love donors at the regular Adair Fiscal Court meeting Tuesday, July 10, 2012. From left, front Leslie Streeval, Sarah Streeval, and Allyson Burton, all Locks Donors; and Magistrate Burton. Judge Ann Melton, under the seal, center, and County Attorney Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin, Far Fight, can be seen in back. Mostly hidden from view are Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss, Court Recorder Lisa Lee, and County Treasurer Barry Corbin.

Profiles in Educational Progress: Mr. Reed, Mr. Treece

Just before leaving for the Central Office together two leaders of the Adair County School District are profiled watching construction underway for the new elementary school. At left an optimistic newly installed Superintendent Alan W. Reed, who envisions building on the progress made under his predecessor and mentor, Darrell Treece, under whose leadership the schools' physical facilities were changed more dramatically than at any other period in the history of public education in Adair County.
