Historic Adair County Courthouse: What was this event?
2012-07-14 - 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo from collection of Mike Watson. Mike Watson writes: Here is a photo from my collection. The only identification on theback is: 1930s or early 1940s. The photo was taken from the the building on the corner, commonlyknown to many of us as the Lerman Brothers' Building, and likely froma second floor window.
The huge crowd of people are all the way around in front of Russell &Company, the Rialto, and the Bank of Columbia. It appears those onthe Burkesville Street side of the courthouse and nearer the buildingare sitting. This made me think it might have been the 1942 dedicationof the DAR marker which is on the lawn on that side. However, the marker wasdedicated on Flag Day and I do not see any flags anywhere. Can anyone more accurately date the photo and identify the occasion? - MIKE WATSON
