Paula Smith, right, director of alumni relations at Campbellsville University, accepts a $500 check for the university's Scholarship Fund from Al Hardin, president of the Tri-County Car Club in Campbellsville. Those pursuing an auto-related career remain the club's first priority, but if there are no applicants, the money will be given to the university to assist area students. There were no applicants this year for the annual scholarship. The Tri-County Car Club represents primarily Taylor, Adair and Green counties, with members from other counties as well. - Stan McKinney

Picture proof: Miz Victoria is right about Woody's Bear behavior

2012-07-16 - WoodysBee Tree, The Flatwoods, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
While it may not be found by the untrained eye Miz Victoria's sighting of Woody's styrofoam bear can be faintly discerned by Blue Ribbon Bear Board Members who have secured the difficult-to-obtain credentials to make such findings: Woody's Styrofoam Bear had clumb halfway to the top of a dead bee tree, maybe on a more elemental quest for honey than, as has been surmised, because it is afraid of the new traffic on the Chattanooga Highway or is averse to getting covered in lime dust. The scene is across the Flatwoods/Greater Bliss boundary line(s) Stotts Lane and KY 61 S. (A minor municipal territory dispute has not been resolved). -EW
