Vain Chicken
2012-07-23 - Greater Gadberry, District 2, Adair Co., KY - Photo by Sarah Sproles. In keeping with a theme of the day: "I thought this Houdan hen goes right along with the weather vane on the Circle R! Sara Sproles took the picture Sunday, when she brought her daughter and granddaughter for a visit on our farm. Sara's husband, Jim, was also in attendance," Charles Marshburn writes. Houdans are a pretty high faluting looking, froofy French breed of chicken - but despite their appearance are really all that uppity, just courtly in their good manners, and their eagerness to provide eggs - so Gadberry and Adair County have them going for us. -CM
