Have to give credit where credit is due
2012-08-13 - 342 Gen. John Adair Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Laughing as they fessed up. Superintendent Alan Reed and Director of Student Transportation David Jones said they would take credit for the bright new look at the J.T. Coomer Building, the bus garage, but couldn't. "Wish it had been our idea," Mr. Reed said. "I'd love to have the credit. But Adair Countians need to know that it was the idea and the work of, Donnie Curry, Tommy Murray, Ronnie Bryant and Roy Lockridge." He said that the administration did provide the materials, and added that David Jones had to be given credit as the "elan man" and for actually pitching in and helping with the physical labor. Jones downplayed his role. "They did it," he said. Referring the Curry, Murray, Bryant and Lockridge.

Mark Rees, new to Chance, KY area, with horseshoe art
2012-08-12 - Chance, District 3, Adair Co., KY - Photo by Anita Rees. Mark Rees, recently retired from the U.S. Navy and now settling in in the Chance, KY area, with some of his Horseshoe Art creations. Rees welds, reshapes and paints horseshoes into windchimes, butterflies, birds, bugs, and other whimsical art. He will be selling the art from the studio/workshop he is now setting up at the Rees' new home in Adair County. In the right hand photo, he's pictured with some samples, along with his assistant, Toon, the Rees' 14 year old Rottweiller, who caused a panic yesterday when he did some advance party reconnoitering for the Rees' and without letting Mark and Anita know. However, he was back on duty at home base today, and all is calm again. The studio, by the way, is Mark's Custom Shoe Art. The phone is 270-378-6832

Witnessing for Kelleyville Community Church
2012-08-12 - B. Neat Road, District 4, Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Oilman Junior Stotts was using a conveyance which uses little petroleum while working for his Kelleyville Community Church, Saturday, August 11, 2012. He was inviting a friend, Dan Loy, to Bring A Friend Sunday, today, August 12, 2012, at the Coburg, KY, church. The car has caused quite a stir in Stotts' neighborhood. His other car is a Canadian built tour bus. On forays from Adair County, the little electric car will be in tow, for tooling around Pigeon Forge and his other frequent haunts. The GEM-4 neighborhood electric vehicle goes some 30 miles on a household charge, and has a top touring speed of 35 mph. The 2002 Prevost bus causes a stir in the neighborhood, too, when it is about.
