Dalmatian Fire Hydrant 2012-08-14 - W. Guardian & Burkesville Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Some observed two phantom painters working on this fire hydrant and wondered what was going on. Haven't gotten a reason why, but it's turned out to be a great piece of street art, and Columbia's first Dalmatian fire hydrant - as cute as a speckled pup. If anyone else knows the perpetrators, hope they'll let us know. We'd like to publicly thank them for making more people smile. Marilyn Jones Boyd who now lives in Lancaster, KY, but spent her childhood in Columbia, KY, is the daughter of the late Casey Jones and Shirley A. Jones. Casey Jones, one time world fiddle champion and a long remembered jeweler on the Square in Columbia, KY was, above all else, an unforgettable personality - and, from the photo above, so was Mrs. Jones! Mrs. Boyd is sharing a photo from a little known phase of her parents' career. In the picture, above, her mother Shirley A Jones, and father, Casey Jones were photographed for a comedy act they performed in Chicago in the 1930's.
