Principal Troy Young speaks to SBDM Council

Adair County High School School Principal Troy Young
addressed the huge Site Based Decision Making Council meeting at the Adair County High School Gymnasium. Others around the table are, from left SBDM members Mike Godsey, Marsha Riddick, Kevin Robertson, (Young), Melinda Franklin, and Sandy Pyles. Adair County High Counselor Ann Young is seen at right, back. Some 600 were in attendance at the meeting, which lasted approximately 3 hours, and ended when Mr. Young announced that a Spanish teacher, not a third Agriculture Teacher, would be hired. The announcement is now being reviewed by Superintendent Alan W. Reed. to see if all procedural policies, including site specific ones, were followed. The review came at the request of members Melinda Franklin and Sandy Pyles. No word has been received as to when Superintendent Reed will make his decision.

For a Site Based Council meeting, turnout was huge

A gathering estimated at over 600 people attended this afternoon's Adair County High School Site Based Council meeting, Most parking lots were filled, with the overwhelming majority in attendance in favor of keeping three Agriculture teachers on the faculty. At the end of the day, after a three hour meeting, they were disappointed when Principal Troy Young announced his decision to to hire a Spanish teacher instead of hiring a teacher to replace Terry Harvey, who retired prior to the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
