Scenic Jessamine Co., KY: Olde Hall Church

2012-08-23 - Jessamine Co., KY - Photo by Kenny Browning, the Feedman.
Located on Hall Road in Jessamine County, Kentucky near Camp Taylor. Had been headed home from Lexington on Hwy 27 and thought that maybe this county road would get close enough to the Kentucky River to have a good view of the Palisades that are along the river in this area. The road ended long before making it to the Kentucky River but came upon a part of Kentucky history that few know of. The little town of Hall was at one time a home to thousands of refugees of slavery during the Civil War . Also Rev. John Fee founded Ariel Academy, and the small church. The Rev. John Fee went on to establish Berea College Kaintuckeean, Olde Hall Church
. -Kenny Browning Does anybody yet have the answer to an Adair County Question: Is Santa Fee Baptist Church so-named and so-spelled in honor of Rev. John Fee, or not? - CMSeen in the ColumbiaMagazine group on Flickr.

Trying to get consensus at the ACHS Site Council meeting

2012-08-23 - ACHS, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Talking in groups The Adair County Site Based Decision Making Council attempted to get a consensus on the issue of whether to hire a third Agriculture Teacher or use the slot to add an additional academic teacher. From left, Mike Godsey confers with Marsha Reddick, while, Principal Troy Young confers with Kevin Robertson, Melinda Franklin, and Sandy Pyles. A show of hands vote, later, was 4-2 in favor of Principal Young's recommendation that an academic teacher be hired. But, in a spirit of compromise, Mr. Young said that he would ask for Superintendent Reed to create a position for an instructional assistant to help in the Agriculture Department.
