ACPC tech savvy kindergartners show principal how to use iPad

2013-12-09 - ACPC, 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Patty Jones. Pretty cool for tech savvy kindergartners? - Two kindergarten students are doing a letter matching activity on the iPads using QR (Quick Ressponse) codes. They clip the clothespin on the proper beginning letter and then scan the QR code with the iPad to see if they got it correct. Pretty cool, huh? They had to show me how to do it the right way. They are Carson Brown and Brayden Stargel and their really cool kindergarten teacher who found the app is Sarah Burton. Patty R. Jones, Principal, Adair County Primary Center, 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY 42728

Christmas Parade 2013: 2nd story view is better

2013-12-09 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. This photo was just a reminder of a wouldn't it be grand idea It was taken from the second floor of the Historic Adair County Courthouse. Would it be grand if the rooftops around the square became private parade viewing areas. It's better than streetside, I think. And would it be grand if parking on the Square allowed the density it had in the the early days? Where more people could sit in their cars and watch the passing parade, every day? The view above, of course, is of the crown of Begley Chapel. - EW.

The pumper was the first on the scene at the Adair Hotel Fire of 1976. Firefighter Dennis Loy said that Adam Coomer, a recent member of the department, is responsible for get the machine back in working order.
