Election 2014: Mike Sneed for Adair County Court Clerk

2014-02-26 - Columbia, KY - Photo Campaign Photo.

Citizens of Adair County

My name is Mike Sneed and I would like to announce my Republican candidacy to become your next Adair County Court Clerk. I am married to Karen (Cape) Sneed and together we have two wonderful children, Ashley and Landon. I am the son of Bobby Dale and Marilyn Sneed, and the son-in-law of James and Arlena Cape.

I was raised in Adair County, graduated from Adair County High School and then attended Campbellsville University where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Science and I'm making progress towards a Masters in Educational Technology at Western Kentucky University. I have an extensive business background in the family business, A1 Auto, spent four years teaching history and social studies in KY and TN and have coached various sports at various levels, including basketball from elementary to high school age students. I am currently the head boys basketball coach at Adair County Middle School and manager of A1 Auto. My 30 years at A1 have provided me tremendous experience in working with the public, learning customer service and how to treat people with respect. These skills, along with management, leadership and organizational skills gained over the past three decades will translate effectively to the County Clerk's Office, overseeing elections, recording and indexing all documents, and serving the various and everchanging needs of the public.

I pledge, if elected as your County Clerk, to effectively and efficiently maintain the practices established by longtime Clerk Sheila Blair in addition to balancing office expenditures and managing a responsible budget.

In addition to these established practices, I pledge to bring new ideas and enthusiasm to the office, including the evaluation of opening the office on Saturdays or providing extended hours during the week for the convenience of the citizens of the County, explore the possibility of a website kept uptodate with necessary information, including adding a document search to streamline the availability of necessary documents for citizens, and maintaining an open ear to the suggestions, concerns and ideas of the community.

If elected, I will utilize my coaching background to foster a team environment, allowing the sharing of ideas and putting people into positions best suited for them to succeed, all while providing a warm welcome and open door to all who walk into the office. I look forward to working with the current staff and using their experience to help with a seamless transition.

I thank you for your consideration and ask for your vote on the Republican Party primary on May 20th. In the months leading to the election, I sincerely welcome feedback from any and all of you so that I can more accurately become the candidate that best represents the citizens of Adair County. Feel free to contact me anytime at 270-384-5821 or 270-250-3567.

Keving Grider, of L. Grider Road, Columbia, KY - the Sano area of Adair County, KY, writes:
My name is Kevin Grider 771 L. Grider Rd. Columbia KY. ( Sano Area of Adair County.) Thought the Readers of Columbia Magazine would enjoy the Halo that was around the Sunset yesterday evening, Tuesday, February 26, 2014,. I first noticed what I thought was just a Sundog near the Sunset but with a closer look I seen a full Rainbow around the sun. I thought, "I've got to get a picture." So I exited the Parkway at Walmart to snap a photo. But with the clouds moving in the beauty of this site was fading quick . Hope you enjoy this picture I did get. Kevin Grider
