FM2: Sofa bike makes appearance

2014-04-19 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. *RecumbentingGerald Holt from way off in Little Cake/Neat Hollow area/Greater Ella/Greater Neatsville/Greater Purdy was in town on his sofa bike. And, though it looks like he's asleep at the wheel and doing a wheelie a the same time, he's actually the poster boy of bike safety. If there is a law against riding a sofa bike in Columbia while wearing Google Glass, he isn't: That's just a rear-view mirror on this specs. They just look high tech. Recumbent bikes have become more and more popular in the area. Gerald Holt says he knows of seven now. The Farmers Market on the Square attracts cyclists. Last year one rider on his way to Tennessee stopped just to see what as happening. "Is some kind of a county fair?" he asked. Truth be told, in a way, it is. The market is open 8am-1pm each of 30 Saturdays, from April 5 through October 30, 2014.

Saturday Downtown: Window Dressing

2014-04-19 - Bank of Columbia, 144 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Window Dressing is still a big part of the scene in Downtown Columbia. The Bank of Columbia is displaying this promotion for the ADAIR Band's Concert. Have to wonder whether they're calling in a high dollar window dressing from New York City or if some hugely talented local person is creating the wonderful street art. Downtown is gorgeous this morning, and it's a mini country fair, the some Downtown Shops open, the Barber Shop and the Farmer's Market on the Square open today with what could be called a Book Fair at the Market. With at least 2 authors and some of their books there, one of whom is on the Adair County Primary Center Site Based Decision Making Council, in case you're needing to fuss with someone about something.
