Today is the day for kids at Westlake Regional Hospital. The first health fair for kids begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 2 p.m. From left to right, helping get things ready are: Cody and Karley Luttrell, Jonathan and Michael Gold and their dad Neal, and at far right is Tonya Luttrell. The table full of prizes will be emptied by lucky winners at today's Kids Health Fair. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Ready for First Crafters Court, Historic Adair Co. Courthouse

Mike Watson and Melinda Vetter both exhibitors at the very first Crafters Court in conjuncition with the Adair Farmers Market, paused a moment before readying their stalls today, Saturday, April 26, 2014. Crafters Court is open 8am-1pmCT today. Vetter is setting up her handmade soap display on the ramp outside on the Greensburg side; Watson Publication was ready for business at 8amCT. Mike Watson, author of some 69 historical publications including his two-volume authoritative histories of Adair County, is giving tours of the courthouse each hour, on the hour.

Columbia's Best Kept Secret in Dogwood, Redbud time


2014-04-26 - Appen Avenue, Jones-Wright Addition, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Appen Avenue in the Jones-Wright Addition, is beautiful today, with dogwoods and redbud in full bloom. Longtime resident Edwin Taylor calls it "Columbia's Best Kept Secret." Jim Harper, headed home, above, said it was also Columbia's oldest subdivision, and maybe in some sense, it would be; but it seems there were several before, often referenced in the writings of JIM: Boomer Heights, the Hudson Addition, the Harvey Addition, the Tutt Addition, and more.

Outdoor dining all around the Square today


2014-04-26 - Photo by Ed Waggener. With the 4th Session - and Grand Opening - of the Farmers Market on the Square, today, there are many Downtown Outdoor dining options. TaP's by the Fountain Plaza is open with tables set up to watch the passing parade from the Fountain area. Above, under the watchful eyes of Dalton Crawford, his mother, Tisha Paris prepares the serving table for Biscuits & Gravy and Breakfast Burritos. That's Head Chef Gary Crawford in the doorway, preparing to crank up the BBQ grill. Pulled Pork Sandwiches will be served during lunchtime, may before. The Cafe will be open 8amCT to around 2pmCT today.
