At FM2 - Having big time at Farmers Market on the Square

2014-04-26 - Adair Annex Parking Lot, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Wherever they are, they bring smiles with them - On the left, Vicky Pike of Greater Bliss, made it to the Bright Lights this morning for visits at each of the stalls and for a chat with Wendy Butler Burt. Both are enjoying recent victories. Vicky Pike's crusade for lights at Exit 47 on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway is being realized with the inclusion or funding in the current Kentucky budget; and Wendy Butler Burt had several pages filled out for the wet/dry petition she's circulating.

Law enforcement at FM2: Constable Shannon Rowe

2014-04-26 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Everybody likes to be at the Farmers Market on the Square, including enough members of law enforcement to give fairgoers a sense of security. Second District Constable Shannon Rowe was on hand this morning, doing some campaigning for re-election. He's a candidate for re-election in the Second Magisterial District. After filing, the official district line was changed - not as intended by the Adair Fiscal Court - and Rowe learned that the map put him in District 3 - by 20 feet. He said that Adair County Court Clerk Joyce Rodgers has assured him that he can still be on the ballot and will be certified he winner if he is the top vote-getter on May 20, 2014. He said that it his understanding that, if he wins, he'll be able to serve, but might have to face a challenge. He's engaged one of the top lawyers in South Central Kentucky to represent him if there is a challenge. In the meantime, he said, he's campaigning every day.
