The Columbia City Council gave its approval for the City Cemetery Board to use the power of eminent domain to acquire the old Parson House at 401 Greensburg Street. Councillor & Cemetery Board member Robert Flowers told the Council that the Cemetery Board, in an earlier meeting had voted to proceed under Kentucky Statute which allows Cemeteries to acquire certain property when it will be used for either more grave sites or to build a chapel. On a motion by Councillor Craig Dean, with a second by Linda Waggener, the Council unanimously approved the authorization. Councillor Flowers said the action would probably take a few months to a year to complete. He said a private benefactor has agreed to pay the cost of removing he house.
