Poet Aaran Taylor, wins statewide 1st in Grades 9-11 Division

Writer Aaran Taylor, son of Amanda Taylor, was recently recognized in a statewide youth writing contest sponsored by the Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs. Aaran placed 1st in the grades 9-11 Poetry division. Aaran also received a $20.00 Visa gift card. Aaran is a student at Adair County High School. His writing was submitted by the Columbia Woman's Club. - DIANA EASTHAM

ACES Writers Jake Hill, 1st in State; Trayton Stargel places 3rd

Two Adair County Elementary School students
were recognized in a state-wide youth writing contest sponsored by the Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs. Jake Hill, son of Ken and Vickie Hill, placed 1st in the grades 3-5 Short Story division. A Grandmother's Love: Mrs. Charlene Hale

Dylan Hale, Charlene Hale, and Travis Hale during her last day of volunteerism at ACMS. Mrs. Hale has dedicated one afternoon a week for the past 5 years to her grandsons schools. She, herself a retired teacher from the Russell County School System, knows the importance of a families involvement in their students' academic life and the benefits it provides. The boys are hoping she follows them on to high school. The ACHS staff sure hopes so too! Ricky Bault retires after 26 year career with Adair Schools

Ricky Bault
Left Supervisor of the Adair County School District Maintenance & Grounds Department, announced his retirement, effective at the end of the May, 2014, last night at the Thursday, May 29, 2014, School Board Meeting. Superintendent Alan W. Reed, at right, complained that he wished Mr. Bault wouldn't be smiling so much about getting away for the job. School Board Chairman Floyd Burton (Div 4), joined in retirement recognition.
