Let me tell you about my granddaughters: The Sisterly cousins

2013-11-03 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. The Sisterly Cousin Society of Shelby County at a recent giggle-in in Shelbyville. That's Tillie left and Hailey first cousins, now as close as sisters. The gatherings are not all giggle sessions. Tillie takes time to instruct the younger Hailey in proper etiquette - particularly the deference younger ones make to their elders, especially to herself; and the lessons are well taken by Hailey, who gets a respite from her routine chore, bossing her two adoring older brothers. In our family, the special cousinship is deja vu, a reminder of the Jamestown Hill sisterly third cousinhood of Annette Waggener & Hilda Joyce Willis, who had a special cousinspeak they understood, but was as difficult for outsiders - all other people in the world - to understand as Navajo. The society ladies above are the grandchildren of Linda & Ed Waggener of Columbia, KY. - Granddad, Ed Waggener

Scenic Adair Co., KY: What's seen from the Veterans bypass

2013-11-03 - From Adair Veterans Memorial Highway, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Adair Countians know the significance of this scene. In the foreground, the epicenter of Kentucky auto retailing, the original Don Franklin Ford Dealership which has grown to be the mammoth Franklin Family Group of franchises. And that may not be so evident, from this perspective, to the one time traveller along the bypass. What couldn't be missed, against the dark skies in background, standing high on Mitchell Street, a church, this one Pastor Gene Conover's Columbia Church of God.From CM DIRECTORY of CHURCHES: COLUMBIA CHURCH of GOD.
