A nice surprise in Downtown Columbia, KY

2014-06-15 - Jefferson Alley at S Reed Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
Hollyhocks were reminders of growing up for both my mother, Geniece Marcum, and me when we spotted them in the little alcove on Jefferson Alley surrounded on two sides by Burton's Tin Shop and on the other by the First & Farmers National Bank. They aren't seen in yards so much anymore, but they are still as beautiful as ever. Those we shared memories of were located by the smokehouse in her mother's back yard where pink and rose colored Hollyhocks bloomed all along the fence row.
