Riprapping complete at CAUD Wastewater Plant

The riprapping along the bank of Russell Creek
at the Columbia/Adair County Utilities District is complete. Above Wastewater Plant Manager Joe Chapman, front and Assistant Plant Manager Steve Breeding look out over the straightened channel. The work was done to prevent another a flood like the one which inundated the treatment plant in 2010. The construction was completed by Dakota Meyer Enterprises, Columbia, KY, and Cleary Construction of Tompkinsville, KY. The channel is frequented by boaters, canoeist and kayakers, and is part of one of the four initial Trails in Adair County' Trail Town USA application, a Paddle Trail from the E KY 80 bridge to Slick Rock Road in Milltown, Adair County, KY.

Columbia Rotary Club Walk Around the World is complete

Columbia Rotary Club President Hunter Durham models a shirt commemorating the Rotary's symbolic walk around the world, a fitness project started in one of Durham's earlier Rotary administrations, in 2008 and completed Saturday, June 14, 2014, with a lap around the track at Blue Raider Stadium. The Rotary's next project is the Radio Auction, 6pm-9pCT, simulcast on The WAVE, 92.7 FM, and WAIN, FM 93.5 FM, Monday-Tuesday, June 23-24, 2014.

Birds of KY: Almost a Bird on a Wire (Killdeer)

The Adair BAND Bingo Hall parking lot killdeer - there are lots of them - were putting on some great shows Sunday. This one almost walked a reflected wire in the parking lot. Their antics and distractions worked - wasn't able to find a any clutch of their eggs, which the beautiful birds lay directly on the ground. - CM

Scenic Adair Co., KY: Tiger Lilies especially pretty, Fortune ST
