If this old bird house could talk
The stories this old bird house could tell perched on one of our south pasture fence posts.

Stories of those who sawed the wood from a local log... the bird fancier or Pop Pop of a grand daughter who designed and built it. The countless generations of bluebirds, and starling interlopers who used it to raise their babies.

Old weathered things in the country have a charm and beauty that's usually absent in the city and suburbs.

Old farmsteads, tobacco barns, antique tractors and such--they speak to me, as does this humble yet intricate homestead on a post.

I love the country.... there is peace and beauty here.

Epicurean Kentuckian: Garbage Plate

2014-06-18 - Photo by Pen. An ugly name for what turned out to be a pretty attractive dish. The idea is to throw a little of everything that's left over into the fridge into the pan. Here, a sausage patty combined with some random bits of red pepper, onion, and some spinach, with a slice of American cheese. Topped with some tomato and herb.
