It was Tish Paris' birthday, with badge to prove it, yesterday, June 20, 2014, and Carol Turner Loy, who had taken almost every available meal at the Paris' restaurant, TaP's, stopped by to say Happy Birthday, before leaving for her new home in Tennessee, where her son Scott Neal lives.

Stuffed day lily blossoms were on the menu at the Adair County Garden Club usually on the menu when the Adair County Garden Club had it's last edible flowers class. The large flat elderberry blossoms such as this one are marked by elderberry wine enthusiasts at this time of the year to make gathering in the fall easier. Clicking Readmore accesses the Farmers Market on the Square Know Before You Go list of Vendors for today, including the Adair County Garden Club President, Donna Jones, of Big Black Dog Farm, who will be available to answer questions about the edible flowers session (STORY), which is coming up Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 1pmCT, at the Columbia/Adair County Chamber of Commerce Building, 201 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY. There may even be someone at the Farmers Market who is quite knowledgeable of Elderberry Wine.

Cow news: Beating the Heat at the old swimmin' hole

The scene is at the intersection of Yellow Hammer Road and KY 68, less than 1/2 mile from Downtown Fairplay, KY. The open road swooshing out of sight goes to Glens Fork/Glensfork/Glenville/or the Village of Hardscratch, KY.

Birds of Kentucky: Least Tern
 2014-06-19 - Photo by John Brunjes. An adult interior least tern protects their eggs from the sun’s rays on a river sand bar in western Kentucky. The least tern nests at this time of year on sand bars and islands in the Ohio River from Paducah downstream and in the Mississippi River along Kentucky’s western border. Human disturbance negatively impacts least tern nesting success.
