New mystery in painted over sign

2014-07-08 - Russell Building, SE Corner, Public Square, Columbia, KY., - Photo by Ed Waggener. Wonder if anyone remembers what the painted sign was at the top floor on the Jamestown Street side of the Russell Building? Or if is, in fact, the remains of a sign. Even with enlargement of this photo, it's difficult to make out any of the letters. Perhaps someone has an old photo when the letters were new. - CM photo taken Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Demolition underway at JAIS, CWC

2014-07-08 - JAIS - Photo by Ed Waggener. John Brockman of Brockman Construction beside one of his company's large pieces of equipment, a Cat 315B L Excavator. Brockman's firm, headquartered in Columbia, KY, won the contract to remove surplus school buildings John Adair Intermediate School, behind him, and Colonel Wm Casey Elementary School. As facilities, the schools had been rated the worst public school building in the state (JAIS) and the sixth worst (CWC) at the time the Adair County School District board voted to re-configure the campus, raze these buildings, and re-purpose the land, mostly for the bands use. Brockman expects to have at least one of the buildings on the ground by Friday, July 18, 2014, and the site prepared for practice field installation for the ADAIR Band by the start of school August 14, 2014.
