Her modeling career, according to an entry on her life in Wikipedia includes posing "as cover model and character inspiration for the book series, Rancho Diablo written by Mel Odem, Bill Crider, & James Reasoner. Kasey Lansdale, in Columbia to promote her new release of a single from her 2013 album "Restless," did the Stars in Columbia pose in the Picnic Fountain area on the Square. Her recording was produced by John Carter Cash, the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash, in Nashville, TN, but she said she was impressed with the Red Brick Recording Studio on the Square in Columbia - especially with its second floor Star Quarters for overnights during recording sessions.

Rising Recording stars in Columbia

Julie Gibbs, Toronto, Canada and Kasey Lansdale, Nacogdoches, Texas, were taking a stroll in Downtown Columbia, KY, yesterday, following an interview with Lisa Fisher-Clark on WAIN, FM 93.5, at 9amCT, to promote the re-release of a single from Kasey Lansdale's "Restless" album. The two are on a national tour, being taken in three legs - this is the second one - to help boost the recording onto more national charts. Gibbs said Columbia has been her favorite spot on the tour. "It's a quaint, authentic, relaxing place to be," she said. Lansdale echoed the sentiment, "It's real," she said, "and reminds me of East Texas towns around my hometown." - EW

John Rarey gives airport report to Fiscal Court


2014-07-09 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. John Rarey delivered the "State of the Airport," report at the Tuesday night, July 8, 2014, Adair Fiscal Court meeting. The report on this vital economic development, tourism, and safety pillar was met with enthusiasm and the court voted to pay the $7,000.00 annual funding for the airport this year, despite a somewhat tight budget. The funds come from the LGEA account. It was not paid in 2013; however, Judge Melton said that should budget conditions change, the Airport Board could make additional requests. Rarey was accompanied by, right Bill Troutwine; and, not in photo, Chris Janes, Buddy Sewell, Mike Mitchum, and Howard Loy. - Ed Waggener

Iraqi War veteran Scott Tarter asks for fireworks restraint

Tarter cited the effect on veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from excessive and prolonged fireworks disturbances of the peace, particularly veterans. In the community, many pet owners dread Independence Day fireworks noise, when, often, pets become lost after running away from home. Historic Adair County Courthouse: Upper Lights are burning

The Courthouse Clocktower has more lights now. There is some hope that lighting for the steeple and basket can be restored soon. The photo was taken after completion of the Tuesday, July 8, 2014 Fiscal Court meeting.
