Progress on the Great Wall at CAUD Wastewater Plant

2014-07-12 - CAUD Wastewater Plant, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Professional Concrete Service (PCS) has taken advantage of recent excellent construction weather to make great progress on the Great Wall at the Columbia/Adair County (CAUD) Wastewater Plant. CAUD General Manager Lenny Stone reported at the Thursday evening, July 10, 2014, meeting of the CAUD board meeting that all the footer is poured for the 275' wall, and that 160 feet of the 18' tall wall is poured. Stone said that after the wall is poured it will have to cure for at least 28 days before the backfill is started to complete the project aimed at stopping mudslides on the hill. The crest of the hill adjoins Wall Street near the entrance to the Columbia City Cemetery. Photo taken Friday, July 11, 2014

Travelers here: A stop in Columbia, in search of good food

2014-07-11 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Jeffrey and Darlene Neeley parked their very interesting ride to search for a place to eat, and found one - on the Square, which satisfied both his appetite for Pork Chops & 2, and her vegetarian diet. The couple are residents of Byrdstown, Pickett County, Tennessee, and just happened through Columbia on a meandering summer ride. The The trike is a 2004 Honda Goldwing two wheeler, converted to a a three wheeler with a 2012 kit. The Neeleys came to Byrdstown, TN, 10 years ago after he retired from GM in Cincinnati, OH. At TaP's Diner, they met Johnny Vaughn, Dean of Adair County Assimilation Academy, but expressed no immediate interest in becoming Born Again Adair Countians. In fact, the matter didn't come up, but Mr. Neeley's comments vouched for the quality of the Fried Potatoes and the Pork Chops, indicating they might return to eat here someday. The picture is a posed up. Darlene Neeley was asked to do her best Nancy Reagin gaze, and did it, quite convincingly.
