Traffic Lane Shifts at midnight Friday, July 18, 2014 SB 1-65

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists of lane shifts on southbound Interstate 65 in Bullitt County. Beginning this evening, Friday, July 18, 2014 at midnight, ET, southbound traffic will be shifted to allow for work in the right and center lanes between mile points 106 and 112 as in the diagram above. - Andrea Clifford

Working landscape wonders with native flowers & plants

Here is an example from half of our very small front yard of several natives: purple coneflower (pink), rattlesnake master (vegetation, is not in bloom), black-eyed susans in back (yellow) and rhododendron bush and on arbor, native wisteria vine. There are several others which are hard to see but are present: spiderwort, rose milkweed, queen of the prairie, native purple iris. - ALICIA BOSELA

She will succeed Debra Wimmer, who retired at the end of the past school term.

Adair County School Board: Donald Hare presents band appeal


2014-07-18 - 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Donald Hare presented an appeal to the Adair County School board for assistance in accelerating the construction of practice fields, a director's tower between them, and storage facilities. The State's Premier March Band, ADAIR, is one of the few bands in the Commonwealth without a practice field of its own. Using other fields as in the past, is a matter of turf: The band is tough on grass, Hare said, and the ADAIR Band is reluctant to ask to use the baseball or football fields at a time when they are in peak condition, but are easily stressed. The band practices so much, Mark D. Harris, President of the ADAIR Band Boosters said, that they can quickly kill grass, and reduce the playing and practice surfaces to mud at the first rainfall.
