Joe & Ada Coffey first to cross span after official opening

Joe & Ada Troutman Coffey were accorded the honor of being the first to officially cross the new Cabin Creek Bridge, and did it in style in their Kawasaki Ranger. Growing up, they lived on opposite sides of Cabin Creek. Above they are momentarily head toward KY 92 at Pleasant Hill, the route to the Troutman family home at Joppa. After the ceremonial crossing, they returned in the opposite direction to the beautiful farm they shared on Old Montpelier near Acree Road. The photo was taken just after noon, Thursday, July 31, 2014.

Party honors Bridgebuilders on completion of Cabin Creek span

Before the Cabin Creek was officially opened today at approximately 1pmCT, a bridge completion lunch cookout, hosted by County Judge Ann Melton and Third District Magistrate Sammy Baker, was held before traffic was let through. In the foreground can be seen, from left, David Hardin (in Adair County Road Department safety uniform; community resident Ray Coffey; Magistrate Sammy Baker (dark blue shirt), CJE Ann Melton; visiting Magistrate Harold Burton (District 1); then in coral blouse, Jerri Nixon, CJE Office Secretary; Bradley Adamson in solid lime safety cap; CJE Administrative Assistant Lisa Greer; Adair County Finance Officer Gale Cowan; Gary Melton, Katie Boyce, and Nadene Baker, the First Lady of District 3.
