The ad hoc outdoor cafe set up temporarily to honor the county's Bridgebuilders on Thursday, July 31, 2014, was such a delightful idea, one wonders why more Bridge Restaurants aren't done. Oddly, a cursory search on the internet indicates that the idea is an old one, but most bridge restaurants cited are over highways, not streams. There must be a restaurant somewhere on a bridge over a stream. One would think of it as being a fish house or seafood restaurant, but the one above drew unanimous praise for the perfect grilled ribeyes prepared by grillmaster Tom Brock, wearing a proper BBQ cowboy hat, standing behind his pulpit - his black grill. (The question: Does anyone know of a restaurant on a bridge over a stream? And where does one put one in Columbia? Seems like someone had that idea for the old Green Hills Road span over Russell Creek, when the iron bridge became redundant).
